Teen Court, in cooperation with Leadership Lawton Class XXX, has begun to develop a new seminar series open to all teens affiliated with Teen Court. This program's mission is:
To prepare youth to successfully complete high school, technical education, or university and enter the workforce as work-ready employees.
This program will contain a series of seminars ranging from personal communication styles to how to apply for admission to colleges. Professional dress, interview skills, and other life skills will be included.
Life Support will be held on Saturdays and can accommodate ten students per session. Further information and applications for admission will be available by August 1, 2020.
This program works hand-in-hand with Teen Court's belief that all youth have the right to build the skills necessary to be successful. While most of our work has been focused on education on addiction/substance abuse, anger management, and faulty thinking, we believe there are critical knowledge gaps for many of our clients. Imagine not knowing until it is too late that two years of foreign language or computer training in high school is required for admission to college. Imagine being the first person in your family to successfully register and complete the ACT. Imagine having access to training for job applications, resumes, professional dress, and interview skills - those things that get a person started down the road of life in a successful manner. This is Life Support. Look for it in the coming year!
